Global eHealth giant MEDITECH has partnered with US-based Validic, a leading technology platform for accessing digital health data, to integrate mHealth data into its electronic health records (EHRs), patient portals and wellness programmes.
More than 2,400 institutions across the globe use MEDITECH’s EHR, including healthcare facilities across South Africa. MEDITECH will use Validic’s digital health platform to integrate clinical, fitness and wellness data for improved remote patient monitoring, home care, patient discharge management and wellness initiatives.
“MEDITECH is focused on advancing our population health and patient engagement strategy, which is why we’re ramping up our remote patient monitoring and telehealth offerings,” said President and CEO of MEDITECH, Howard Messing. “Today’s healthcare environment is value-based and outcome-driven, which means healthcare providers need to evaluate every aspect of their patients’ health, not just those factors that contributed to their latest doctor’s appointment.”
“Millions of people are now using many available mobile wellness applications, so we’re leveraging Validic’s digital health platform to capture that clinical and fitness data and seamlessly integrate it into the patient’s EHR. Providers will have a fuller, more complete understanding of their patients’ health and habits, ultimately benefiting providers and patients alike,” continued Messing.
On the new partnership, Validic co-founder and CEO, Ryan Beckland, said: “MEDITECH has one of the largest hospital client bases in the world. As healthcare continues to shift more toward accountable care, healthcare organisations are looking for ways to quickly and securely access patient data to deliver more meaningful population management, patient engagement and disease state analytics. Validic brings this value to healthcare companies, the clients they serve, and, in turn, the healthcare system.”
