Contribution to eHealth in SA

In South Africa, The National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS), the largest supplier of pathology services in Africa and the sole supplier of pathology services to the South African Government, uses the InterSystems TrakCare Lab LIS (Laboratory Information System). This is one of the largest IT systems of its type in the world, providing a centralised and real-time pathology test processing and results system for an entire country’s public service.  This was achieved in partnership with Health System Technologies, an InterSystems partner based in South Africa.

InterSystems technology is used by a number of South African healthcare application providers as part of their solutions.

Trifour Health’s TriMed solution is used in hospitals, day clinics, multi-disciplinary medical clusters, pharmacies and primary healthcare in the private, mining/industrial, and public healthcare sectors.

Right ePharmacy, the solution provider for the dispensing, distribution and collection of medicine for parent company Right to Care, has developed the Pharmacy Dispensing Unit (PDU), located in shopping malls for the convenient dispensing of ARV medication to patients.
