Mobenzi - EHN

Mobenzi provides technology and professional services to organisations involved in research, data collection, logistics and community service delivery.

Mobenzi offers two mobile platforms: Mobenzi Researcher and Mobenzi Outreach.

Mobenzi Researcher is used extensively for the collection of baseline data, commonly through the conduction of household surveys, patient interviews and healthcare facility audits. In longitudinal studies, Mobenzi Researcher underpins many of the research activities involved in randomised control trials.

Mobenzi Outreach is used for patient records, scheduling visits, messaging workflow and dashboards. The platform can capture information without network reception, works on phones and tablets and also connects to Researcher to simplify submission processing.

Where implemented

Mobenzi’s technology is 100% locally developed – with offices in Cape Town and Durban (the Johannesburg office is opening soon).

The platforms are used in over 40 countries by a diverse range of clients across health, agriculture, education and commerce industries.

Contribution to eHealth in SA

Since 2012, Mobenzi has partnered with provincial DoH (North West and Limpopo), Health Systems Trust, Medical Research Council, University of Western Cape, and Anova to configure an mHealth solution to support Ward-based Outreach Teams (WBOTs).

Mobenzi was recently involved in the research study XTEND, which evaluated the effectiveness, cost effectiveness and impact of Xpert TB diagnostics equipment. 40 clinics, four provinces and over 9,000 participants were involved.

Mobenzi has also supported several other key initiatives, including the National PMTCT evaluation. More information can be found here.
