Healthbridge, a local health-tech solutions company, has announced the integration of RecoMed’s national online healthcare patient booking platform into their myMPS cloud-based clinical and billing practice management solution.

The integration, currently in pilot phase, was made available to over 1,000 doctors using myMPS in May 2018 as an add-on module, enabling private practices to further optimise their electronic calendars, enhance their patient experience and grow their revenue. From this month the service will be available to all Healthbridge myMPS customers as an add-on module at a set fee per patient booking.

RecoMed’s mobile-friendly online platform and health marketplace allows patients to find and book appointments with healthcare providers and at no cost. Over 100,000 patients and 1,500 healthcare providers connect with each other every month via the platform.

“There is a strong synergy between Healthbridge and RecoMed’s aim to optimise communication between patients and medical providers,” said Executive – Marketing and Product Success at Healthbridge, Ivone Veiga-Moroldo.

“Currently, myMPS allows practice staff to book appointments in an online diary; the addition of the RecoMed service gives patients the opportunity to book appointments that are then integrated back into the doctor’s myMPS online calendar. The combined offering facilitates an efficient paperless, real-time booking process that saves time for both the patient and the practice staff. Additionally, we are excited about the possibilities for new patient visits that RecoMed’s marketplace integration will bring to myMPS customers,” continued Veiga-Moroldo.

Veiga-Moroldo added that when patients book appointments through the solution, the system sends an immediate benefit check to the medical aid to confirm whether the patient has funds.

“This is an important benefit because Healthbridge’s data shows us that if a patient is made aware of insufficient funds or a co-payment before seeing their doctor, it increases the likelihood of settling outstanding balances exponentially – either before leaving the practice or shortly thereafter,” said Veiga-Moroldo.

“In addition to improving open and clear communication with the patient; practices will also have valuable data at their fingertips to optimise practice management. From the data generated by the platform, doctors and administration staff can see the trends in how busy practices are on what days and times. This enables them to use myMPS to schedule follow up appointments or routine check-ups on days that are quieter, potentially reducing waiting times for the patient and managing workload for the doctor,” continued Veiga-Moroldo.

Commenting on the integration of RecoMed’s online booking platform with Healthbridge’s offering, RecoMed Founder, Sheraan Amod said: “We are delighted to extend our platform’s reach in collaboration with Healthbridge to bring mutual benefit to the patient and healthcare practitioner.”

“In addition to giving patients the freedom to make appointments when it suits them, the combined solution supports better time management, resource allocation, capacity management and billing for the doctor and their business. We are also looking forward to adding myMPS customers to our leading online marketplace where tens of thousands of South African consumers search for and book health practitioners every month,” concluded Amod.
